About Me.
I'm Lee Hughes — a Product Design Director with over a decade of senior design leadership across London, Hong Kong, Athens, and Southeast Asia.
My career has taken me across some of the most demanding and diverse design challenges in the industry: rebuilding critical financial infrastructure for Legal & General, designing life-extending technology for AstraZeneca in collaboration with cardiologists and psychologists, creating a global design system adopted across BT's entire digital estate, and bringing Van Cleef & Arpels online in Hong Kong without losing a single note of one of the world's most tightly governed luxury brands.
I operate at the level where design, strategy, and organisational complexity meet. I lead teams, shape product vision, manage client relationships, and make the difficult calls that determine whether a project delivers something genuinely valuable or merely functional. I care deeply about craft — but I understand that craft in service of the wrong strategy is just expensive decoration.
My background spans agency, in-house, and embedded Director roles, which means I understand design from multiple sides: the pressure of a client relationship, the politics of an internal rebrand, and the long-term thinking required to build systems and teams that outlast any single project.
I'm currently based in Cambodia, open to opportunities across Southeast Asia, fully remote engagements, and roles in Europe — where I hold dual citizenship.
If you're looking for a design leader who brings both strategic clarity and genuine craft to the table, I'd like to talk.
